Vox Harmony was started in February 2009 under the auspices of Launceston Musical Society.
Most of its current members have previously been members of the Adult Education Choir, directed by the ever flamboyant and energetic Denise Sam. After three years with Adult Education, Denise decided to move on and start her own choir, faithfully followed by her many fans at Adult Education.
As Vox Harmony forms part of the Launceston Musical Society, members of the latter organisation have been invited to join and strengthen the choir's voice. Since inception, Vox Harmony has built its membership to around 55 members and are continuing to build on their varied repertoire.
Joining the choir
Vox Harmony has one intake a year and accepts new members only in February. Vox Harmony has a cap on membership numbers. This is set at a maximum of 50 singers. We therefore cannot guarantee a place in the choir for all new applicants.
Vox Harmony members are required to be committed to performances and rehearsals. It is also expected that members use their practice CDs in between rehearsals to become familiar with their voice parts.
If you are interested in joining the choir, email us at info@voxharmony.org.au so we can put you on our database. We will then contact you before the next intake in February.
Membership
Membership of Vox Harmony for 2012 costs $180 for the full year. In addition, there is an annual fee of $20 (or $15 concession) for membership of the Launceston Musical Society.
Rehearsals
Vox Harmony will rehearse on Tuesday nights, in Newstead College, from 7-8:30 pm. Rehearsals will be held every week, with the exception of Easter Tuesday and Tasmanian school holidays.
